Clamps the barrel extension, not the receiver.
The rundown
Barrel Extension Vise. It grabs the barrel extension with steel lugs and a full-length support shank, so the torque of a barrel nut or a flash hider goes into steel instead of into a flexing upper. The steel hardness is set to hold up without marking the extension, and every surface that touches aluminum is polymer. An O-ring post uses the bolt carrier for stability and the included pin keeps the upper in position.
Fits billet and forged uppers. Turn it over and it is a mag well block for working on the lower. Made in the USA.
